Microsoft Outlook Express Instructions

Note: SPAM Scanning will only work if you have had our office activate SPAM Filtering for your account.

1. Open your Outlook Express Program. (Note: You must have your e-mail account already built in Outlook Express. If not, click here for instructions on setting up your Rebeltec E-mail account in Outlook Express)

2. Click on Tools on the File Menu - then Message Rules - then Mail.

3. You will now Create a New Message Rule as shown at the right.
Select "Where the Subject line contains specific Words"
and "Move it to the specified Folder"
Note: When/If you feel comfortable with how the SPAM Server is "filtering/marking" your messages/e-mails, you can choose to "Delete it from the Server" (This is the very bottom option on Question #2). THIS IS YOUR ONLY WARNING. DO NOT CONTACT US ABOUT LOST E-MAILS IF YOU CHOOSE TO DELETE MESSAGES MARKED AS SPAM. WE CANNOT RETRIEVE DELETED MESSAGES.

Question #3. Click on "contains specific words". In the window that comes up type in ***SPAM***.  Click the Add button, then click OK when you are done.
Now click on "specified" to choose the folder. You can either move the SPAM messages to a SPAM folder, which you might have to create, or the Trash. It's up to you, just make sure that you check the folder you choose to make sure there are not any important messages in it.
Name your Rule - SPAM Rule. Then click OK to exit.

4. Create a new e-mail  with the "To:" address as tmi-admin@filter.rebeltec.net and put your Rebeltec e-mail address in as the Subject and Send it. This will send an e-mail to the SPAM Server requesting a list of all the quarantined messages and SPAM Settings for your account. The e-mail that you will receive will contain a list of all the messages that the Server has quarantined for your account. It will come from tMI-admin. The e-mail will also contain instructions on how you can adjust your filter levels. 10 is the lowest filtering with .1 being the highest (strictest) filtering. You can also tell the SPAM server how often to send you your quaratined e-mail list. By default it is set to every 24 hours. You can adjust that anywhere from 12 to 24 hours.
If you have not received an e-mail from tMI-admin and you are needing to know what your quarantined list contains all you have to do is send an e-mail back to tmi-admin@filter.rebeltec.net with your e-mail address as the Subject. You do not need to put anything else in the message.

White List verses Black List
In the e-mail that you receive from the SPAM Server (Click here for a sample e-mail), you will notice at the bottom there is a place for your White List and Black List. A White list is a list of e-mail addresses that you want to receive from. A Black List is the list that you DO NOT want to receive e-mails from. A black list would be very similiar to your "Block Sender" list. If you put someone in your Black List - you will never see their e-mails.
